MORE ABOUT THE NEXT PLAY-IN
Our next play-in will shine the spotlight on French composers. The chamber music repertoire by French composers, on the surface, seems a little limited. The Ravel and Debussy string quartets will come to mind for many, but dig a little deeper and there are some fabulous pieces to explore, many of which deserve much more attention than they receive.
Have a listen to the Jean Cras string trio, or the Widor piano trio op 19, or the Adoph Blanc String Quintet no 3.
Playing French music is entirely optional but we encourage you to explore what France has to offer.
The Play-in will be on Sunday, 26 May at Wesley College Elsternwick Campus.
There will be four playing sessions (times to be confirmed):
Session 1: 10.00 - 11.15 am
Session 2: 11.30 am - 12.45 pm
Session 3: 1.45 - 3.00 pm
Session 4: 3.15 - 4.30 pm

TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR PLAY-INS
A. Play-ins are organised for members of VACMS, but under special circumstances may be open to other players.
C. To participate in a Play-in you need to complete the online registration form and ensure any required fee is paid via bank transfer, to be received by VACMS nine days prior to the event. Details of the VACMS account are given on the registration form.
D. VACMS does its best to group people appropriately at Play-ins according to the available attendees. Requests for
particular groupings or works are heeded, but can only sometimes be met.
E. Though it would be a rare occurrence, we may occasionally be unable to accommodate a player at every Play-in session or Play-in they register for, because we are just not able to suitably group them with the available registrants. Some fees may be refundable if VACMS is unable to accommodate your request to participate in a Play-in.
- If you are interested in maybe joining VACMS, and have never attended a Play-in, you can register to play for one or two (depending on availability) "Come-And-Try" sessions for free. If you wish to attend more sessions (there are 4 in the day) the cost is $30.00. Before registering please ensure you meet our membership criteria.
- Players who have previously attended a VACMS Play-in are required to apply for membership and pay the membership fee. Please see the Membership pages for information about membership options, fees and criteria.
- Certain instruments (e.g. brass, percussion, some wind) that cannot be accommodated in a VACMS membership may be useful additions from time to time for specific desired groupings at Play-ins. These players pay a casual fee of $30. Please contact us with your expression of interest.
